After her mother's death, Hailey runs away to a different country. On the way, she gets hired at a law firm and meets up with her best friend, Everest. But when a tragic accident ends Everest’s life, and there is a change in management at work, Hailey finds herself unable to let her best friend go… and she adopts a chicken. Will the chicken be any help to Hailey’s journey in accepting her best friend’s death or finding better career opportunities?

Over the course of 2025, a select group of young writers was invited to take part in a year-long writing program at Story Factory. Their goal was to produce a fully realised novella. This is one of the novellas produced in these workshops.
